Ugwu –Ezike Family announces burial plan for Patriarch, Okwesirieze

The Ugwu-Ezike Family of Amegu-Uwani Mgboko, Aku in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Council of Enugu State has released the burial plans of their patriarch, Hon. Okwesilieze Ignatius Ugwu whose sad event occurred on December 14, 2022.

In a statement released Sunday in his Aku country home, signed by Ochiaka Ugwu on behalf of the family, it noted that after due consultations with relevant stakeholders which include: the deceased kinsmen, St- Bernard’s  Catholic Community, Umuada, Political Associates and well wishers as well, the burial was fixed for February 4, 2023.

According to the statement, “With sadness in our heart, but in total submission to the will of Almighty God, we the members of Ugwu Ezike Family of Amegu-Uwani Mgboko, Aku of Enugu State wish to announce the death of our Patriarch, Father, Grand Father, Uncle, In-Law, Hon. Ignatius Ugwu (Okwesiri Eze) whose sad event occurred on December 14, 2022 after a protracted illness.

“Be it know that after due consultation with relevant stakeholders that our father’s burial has been fixed for Saturday, February 04 2023 in his Amegu-Uwani Mgboko, Aku country home.

“He will be committed to mother earth after a Reqium Mass at St Bernard’s Catholic Parish Mgboko, Aku.

“This will be preceded by a Christian Wake in his compound on Friday, February 03, 2023 at 5: 00 PM. There will be an Outing and Thanksgiving Service at St-Bernard’s Catholic Parish, Mgboko, Aku on Sunday, February 05, 2023” the statement read in part.

“As we pray for the repose of the soul of our departed patriarch, we urge all to pray for a successful burial and God’s protection during the activities” the statement concluded.

Recall that Hon. Ignatius Ugwu was born on June 6th 1941 by Late Ozo Ugwu Ezike and Lolo Ogoro Ugwu (Nee Offie).  He lost his father at a tender age of six and was educated by his uncle Ozo Basil Offie at St-Gregory Primary School, Aku now Community Primary School.

He was at different times an auxiliary teacher, Nsukka Zonal Youth Leader of the Defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN), Supervisory Council for Health, Igbo Etiti LGA, Member of Customary Court, Aku and Executive Assistant to Igbo Etiti LGA Chairman.

He was married to Mother Esther Ugwu who slept in Lord on the 12 day of October 2016. They had 10 children, five girls and five boys with one of the girls Ngozika Agu transiting to greater glory in 17 March, 2007.
