How Buratai helped in stabilizing Kogi State – Gov. Bello

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello had praised the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Ambassador of Nigeria to Benin Republic, Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd) saying that he greatly helped in stabilizing Kogi when he assumed power in the state.

Gov. Bello who described Buratai as a worthy son of Nigeria that served the nation meritoriously as the Army Chief noted that he inherited security challenges on assumption office which Buratai helped him in curtailing.

Bello who made this known Tuesday in Abuja at a Public Lecture and Book Launch titled: “The Great Exploits of Buratai” said it gives him great pleasure to be part of those celebrating Buratai who he said was a wonderful brother.

While thanking President Buhari for appointing a proactive and fine officer like Buratai as Chief of Army Staff said that he helped him stabilize Kogi State when he assumed leadership to the benefit of 10 states including FCT that bordered the State.

Bello hinted that most security challenges we experience in the nation were politically motivated and advocated the need for a collective action against insecurity as leaders alone cannot surmount them.

Also speaking, former Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Sam Odeh said Buratai  should be celebrated as one who distinguished himself in the service of his father land both as Army Chief and Ambassador.

He said as a global citizen with mark of Excellency, Buratai had shown unalloyed loyalty to the country.

Odeh said that his exploits as Army Chief greatly decimated the activities of insurgents and cross border criminals.

Speaking after the unveiling of the book, Gen. Buratai who pointed out that his tenure was challenging, said they rose to the challenge with the full support of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said it was a determination spurred by patriotism,  commitment and sacrifice and he urge Nigerian youth to always strive towards patriotism and be ready to sacrifice for the nation,  for it is only through sacrifice and patriotism that we can progress.
