China, Nigeria relationship, friendship of shared aspirations -Perm Sec

Acting Permanent Secretary of Nigerian Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Akudo-Nwosu U. N. has said that Nigeria and China relationship was a friendship of shared aspirations that transcends diplomacy.

Akudo-Nwosu made this known Friday at the occasion of International Chinese Language Day Celebration in Abuja hosted by Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Centre for Language Education and Cooperation and organized by China Cultural Centre in Nigeria said that as they celebrate the International Chinese Language Day, we should also celebrate harmony of our cultures and the endless possibilities that lie ahead when we embrace each other’s heritage.

Akudo-Nwosu ably represented by Ms. Nseno Sunday Emiem, an Assistant Director in the Ministry while commending the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, for his commitment to strengthening the cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations, also appreciated China Cultural Centre for its relentless efforts in promoting cultural exchange and fostering mutual understanding between Nigeria and China.

Akudo-Nwosu noted that their work was not only commendable but essential in deepening the bonds of friendship that unite their peoples.

Akudo-Nwosu said, “Language is more than just a tool for communication – it is the soul of a people, the vessel of their history and the bridge that connects civilizations.

“The International Chinese Language Day, celebrated annually on April 20th, is a testament to the richness of Chinese culture and its global influence. It is also a reminder of how language serves as a powerful force in diplomacy, trade and cultural exchange.

“To the China Cultural Centre, I say: Keep shining the light of cultural diplomacy. To the Chinese community in Nigeria, I say: You are valued partners in our nation’s growth. And to all Nigerians learning Chinese, I encourage you to embrace this linguistic journey, for it is a gateway to opportunities.

“In closing, I wish to reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to deepening our cultural and linguistic ties with China. Together, we will continue to write a story of friendship, innovation and mutual prosperity”.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Director China Cultural Centre in Nigeria, Mr. Liu Zhanping said that International Chinese Language Day was a global celebration for Chinese language enthusiasts, aiming at promoting Chinese language and cultural exchange.

Also speaking, Director/Secretary FCT Secondary Education Board, Dr. Muhammed Sani Ladan said the celebration helps in promoting cross cultural understanding, language preservation, encouraging global communication and cooperation, strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between China and Nigeria.
