The expected impacts of the NRMIMS on Nigeria’s economy are significant. The platform is expected to create jobs, conserve foreign exchange reserves, and drive industrial growth. According to the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji, the NRMIMS has the potential to attract $30 billion in investments over the next decade, creating thousands of jobs and boosting domestic production.

The RMMIS is also expected to have a positive impact on Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves. By promoting local sourcing and reducing reliance on imports, the platform will help conserve foreign exchange reserves, potentially saving $10 billion annually.

Also speaking during the launch, Director General, RMRDC Prof. Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso said his leadership is intentional in setting a transformative trajectory for Nigeria’s economic sustainability by harnessing the nation’s abundant raw materials though the NRMIMS, noting that the platforms are expected to pave the way for industrial growth, reduced import dependency, and a thriving, self-reliant economy.

According to him, “The development will significantly impact the growth and success of the RMRDC 10-year roadmap which was incorporated by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to ensure that Nigeria’s Raw Materials Sector aligns with Continental and global best practices. The NRMIMS covers critical and strategic raw materials: Agricultural, solid minerals and secondary raw materials” he said.

Ike-Muonso informed that the success of the NRMIMS lies in critical stakeholders making necessary data available and therefore urged government agencies, institutions, stakeholders to collaborate with RMRDC by working together and re-enforcing the real-time database system.

However, the success of the NRMIMS depends on several factors, including data accuracy, security, and accessibility. It is essential that the data provided on the platform is accurate, reliable, and up-to-date. The platform’s security must also be robust to prevent data breaches and cyber-attacks.

To ensure the success of the NRMIMS, the Federal Government of Nigeria must work closely with stakeholders, including manufacturers, investors, and policymakers. This collaboration will ensure that the platform is tailored to meet the needs of its users and that it provides accurate and reliable data.

In addition, the government must also invest in infrastructure, including internet connectivity and digital literacy programs, to ensure that the NRMIMS is accessible to all stakeholders.

Despite these challenges, the NRMIMS has the potential to transform Nigeria’s industrial landscape and drive economic growth. As the country continues to navigate the challenges of the 21st century, the NRMIMS will play a critical role in promoting industrial development, creating jobs, and improving the lives of Nigerians.
