An Abuja based Legal Practitioner, Osuagwu Ugochukwu has cautioned the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu against dragging the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai into his trial be calling him as a witness.
In a statement released in Abuja Thursday signed by Bar. Osuagwu Ugochukwu who is also the Private Attorney to Gen. Buratai, it noted that, “General T Y Buratai is no more the Chief of Army Staff and thus views the attempt by Nnamdi Kanu to lure him into his trial as an Ambush meant to embarrass the retired Army Chief.
“Off concern is the Wuse address indicated for service of the alleged subpoena on the former Army Chief which is obviously not General Buratai address. This shows that those trying to lure the Army Chief in the ongoing trial have not done their homework well.
“We therefore, urge Nnamdi Kanu to cease from dragging the ex-Army Chief into this charade meant to achieve no purpose than to ridicule the him” he stated.
Recall that early this week, Kanu listed former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Buratai among others as one of his defence witnesses in his trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja. He wants them subpoenaed to appear in court as his witnesses, as he prepares to open his defence.
