Odey who made this known in a press statement released in Abuja Monday noted that the appointment of Amupitan as Nigerian’s Chief Electoral Umpire was a testament to Tinubu’s resolve to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral process.
According to Odey, “I wholeheartedly commend President Bola Tinubu for appointing Prof. Joash Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This appointment is a testament to the President’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.
“Prof. Amupitan’s academic excellence and non-partisan credentials make him an ideal candidate for this critical position. Notably, he has never served as a legal counsel to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or any political party, which further underscores his independence and impartiality.
“We believe Prof. Amupitan has all it takes to serve as the electoral umpire, ensuring free, fair, and credible elections that reflect the will of Nigerians. We urge him to uphold INEC’s independence and impartiality, working tirelessly to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.
